SHUTTING DOWN BUSINESSES IS NOT THE SOLUTION IT ONLY ADDS TO THE PROBLEM.
According to the Department of Industrial Relations, Small businesses are critical to California's economic recovery and strength, to building America's future, and to helping the United States compete in today's global marketplace. Small businesses also represent 99.7 percent of all employer firms and they employ just over half of U.S. workers and pay 44 percent of total U.S. private payroll.
As the result of the governor closing businesses throughout California, the city of Kingsburg as well as other cities in Fresno County; small business owners have felt the devastation. The action of closing or limiting the day to day business activities has impacted an immense burden on the economy. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the business owners in Kingsburg. I met the owner of Kingsburg Barber Shop, and he was one of the nicest people you will ever meet. He stated that “Kingsburg is mainly made up of small businesses, why does the government close our shops or limit us as how we do business. We follow all precautions to sanitize our shops”. June Hess, owner of the Svensk Butik shop, shared her concerns about school closings and other important issues affecting the valley. Our small communities are being affected by Covid19. As a candidate for the 31St Assembly District, I want to LISTEN to business owners and families throughout the district to bring solutions to issues affecting our economy. Together we can make a difference.
